ÔThe MaskÕ is an artwork I did in 2015 during a 12-month stay in Berlin. It is one of my first oil paintings to be sold on the market. I am a self-taught artist since 2014 with an educational background in art history (The Courtauld Institute of Art) and cultural and creative industries (KingÕs College London). The Mask was initially not up for sale. It is a work of art that took centre stage in a phase of my life I would describe as highly reclusive, introspective and self-questioning. It became a personal memento and record that would travel with me all the way to Dubai and stay confined to the walls of my studio. The painting is of tremendous worth to me, for personal, conceptual and artistic reasons. Nonetheless, I have decided to sell it to mark the departure from an era of artistic solitude and self-doubt. With the purchase of this painting you will support animal rescue projects across the heat-stricken emirate of Dubai where I am myself engaging in rescue and foster tasks with the local initiative Second Chance for Paws. The dimensions of the painting are 90cm in height, 100cm in length and 3cm in width. The canvas is self-made and stretched onto solid wood.
