Censorship through portraiture

Size Guide

In this piece, I explored how the role of women has been controlled and “cropped”, through the use of watercolour. Portraiture is commonly used as a way of expressing the beauty of a model however here I have attempted to create a jarring image where the view of the model is censored and hidden, representing how freedom of speech is so commonly mistaken for truth where people are afraid to hate their views in a hostile world.
